A small group of growers, including three century farms, founded Lower Mainland Vegetable Distributors Inc. Their goal was to pack and grade their produce on their farms, rather than through a central wash shed, to lower costs and become more competitive.

Felix Farms (Ladner, BC)
Since 1879, the Guichon family have been growing potatoes, rutabagas and more on their farm for five generations.

Tecarte Farms (Delta, BC)
Since 1911, the Bates family has grown potatoes, blueberries and raised dairy cows on their 400-acre farm.

Heppell’s Potato Corp. (Cloverdale, BC)
Since 1920, the Heppell family has been growing produce on their fifth-generation farm, marking over a century of agricultural heritage.

Canadian Farms (Cloverdale, BC)
After immigrating to Canada in 1978, the Sihota family started their first local farm, appropriately named Canadian Farms.

Emma Lea Farms (Westham Island, Delta, BC) 
After emigrating from Italy in 1885, Joseph Tamboline focused on grain and hay farming. Today, the fourth and fifth generation of the Husband Family grow cabbage, rutabagas, beets, beans, peas and berries. 

Ed McKim Farms (Ladner, BC) 
Ed McKim and his family have been growing sweet corn, beans, and berries for over 35 years.

Swenson Farms (Delta, BC) 
Paul Swenson emigrated from Sweden to Ladner in 1886, settling at what is now Brunswick Point. The Swenson family began farming in the area in 1935. Today, the fourth generation of the Swenson family—Cory and Holley (Swenson) Gerrard, along with Joel Swenson—carry on the family tradition of farming at Brunswick Point and on Westham Island. In the past 20 years, they have also expanded to East Delta, Sumas, and Kamloops.

Burr Farms (Delta, BC)
After emigrating from Ireland in 1873, William H. Burr, an early Delta region pioneer, began farming potatoes, grains and dairy in the early 1890’s.

Sprangers Farms (Surrey, BC)
Spranger’s Farms began in 1963, building on Jim Spranger’s father’s farming legacy since emigrating from Holland in 1951. Today, they specialize in cultivating beets and potatoes.

Kelly Family Farms (Delta, BC)

Kelly family farms, operating since 1898 across four generations, proudly holds the Century Farm designation.

The organization is rebranded as BCfresh, symbolizing a commitment to freshness and quality produce. 

Reynelda Farms joins BCfresh

Reynelda Farms (Westham Island, Delta, BC) 
This Reynelda family farm has been operating for over a century since 1917, specializing in growing yellow potatoes.

BCfresh builds its first office and warehouse with 30,000 square feet after operating from the Vantage offices with Canadian Farms and Felix farms operating as distribution sites. 

Lundstrum Farms (Delta, BC) 
Blake Lundstrum’s great-grandfather started the farm in the early 1940’s. Today, the fourth generation grows potatoes, beets, peas and beans across 100 acres. 

RJL Farms (Richmond, BC) 
Rick McKinney’s family farm has a century-long legacy that began in the late 1890’s with his grandfather, James Alton McKinney. Today, Rick proudly represents the fourth generation of growers continuing this rich tradition. Formerly focused on beef cattle and strawberries, the farm now cultivates cabbage, potatoes, squash, cauliflower, and cucumbers. In addition to his agricultural pursuits, Rick is celebrated as a racing champion, having triumphed at the NHRA Northwest Nationals.

JK Kang Farms (Richmond, BC) 
Kewel Kang, a first-generation immigrant from India, has grown cabbage and cauliflower for over 35 years since the 1990’s.

Shadow Produce (Chilliwack, BC)
The Guliker family, spanning three generations, is among Canada’s largest Brussels sprout producers, also growing kalettes, corn, cauliflower, zucchini, blueberries, and cranberries.
